Chinese Ambassador in praise of Tanzania Airports Authority
The Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania, Dr. Lv Youqing has praised Tanzania Airports Authority (TAA) saying it has made big contribution to the country’s economy by bridging the communication barrier.

He showered the praise today at the Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) Terminal II at the closing ceremony of the elementary Airport Chinese language course for TAA staff and Government agencies
“Tanzania Airports Authority has made big contribution of the country economy. Airport is a window to the world. With Chinese language you will help many people passing through your airports, “he said.

The course which attracted 33 participants was conducted by the Chinese to equip TAA staff and other Government agencies Working at the  airport with the language skills to help them attend to Chinese passengers at the airports to ensure their smooth facilitation now that many Chinese experts come in for natural gas deals.

 The participants were drawn from TAA, Police, Immigration, Agriculture, Health, Livestock, Customs and Minerals resources departments at JNIA which closely cooperate and work with TAA staff at Terminal II.

In a speech read on his behalf by the TAA Legal Secretary, Advocate Ramadhan Maleta, the TAA Director General, Eng. Suleiman S. Suleiman, expressed his sincere gratitude to the Government of the Peoples Republic of China thorugh its Embassy in Dar es Salaam for organizing this important Chinese course.

He said, he hopes participants will make good use of the knowledge and experience they have received to successfully perform their roles including assisting the Chinese language speaking customers who cannot speak other languages and find it difficult to go through travelling processes at our airports.

“In our modern business world, employers often require foreign language skills since it is a sign of respect to talk to new business contacts in their own native language, even if the language skills are not enough for a fluent conversation yet, “he said calling for his staff to serve better their customers.

The Director General, Eng. Suleiman said, the course  is just a beginning for more cooperation with Chinese Government and Chinese community using our airports because through the  language, TAA can now boast of capable staff who can listen, understand and serve Chinese passengers much better.

He guaranteed to provide all necessary assistance to employees who want to learn advanced Chinese courses.  About 22 participants who successfully completed the course were conferred with certificates.
